Pestingrad, 1009m above sea level is an imposing mountain peak that dominates the town of Kotor. The hike starts from Kotor Old Town with a gradual climb on an old Austro-Hungarian road, winding its way up just behind the Old Town walls. The path continues over fields and through forests, to reach the main road to Lovcen National Park. Here there is an optional stop for refreshments at a local restaurant, before continuing on a macadam- road, passing by the old Austro-Hungarian border crossing buildings and continuing up to reach the peak with the reward of a view that is simply breath-taking. On the decent your footsteps are retraced until you meet the walls of Kotor & then you will walk the walls to reach the Old Town.

The hike takes approximately 7 hours, with regular stops for photographs & breaks and during the summer months it is best to start early in the morning.
